Scholarship Opportunities

We are committed to both helping women and supporting education. As a result of this, CCW selects 6 high school students and one adult who wants to return to college and awards scholarships to provide financial support. Students receive $1500 awards and our Continuing With Confidence awardee also receives $1500 scholarship. Two of our high school scholarships are administered on behalf of, and in conjuction with, St. Rose Parish on Eastern Avenue. We thank Fr. Barry Windholtz for his support and personal invovlement in the awarding of these scholarships.

Scholarships for High School Seniors

In honor of one of our long standing members who passed away in August, 2007, we will award a special, one-time, $1800 Eileen Ryan Scholarship. Eileen started the scholarship program at CCW in the late 60’s and to honor her many contributions and to celebrate her short life, we will award the Eileen Ryan Scholarship to an inner-city student. CCW offers four $1,500 scholarships and administers two, $1,500 St. Rose Scholarships.

Please read the following information carefully to determine eligibility and learn how to submit an application.

Who is eligible
Any Catholic high school student, male or female, who lives in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati may apply for these scholarships. Applicants do not need to be attending a Catholic high school, but must be actively practicing their faith.

The Criteria
The scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, financial need, volunteer service, and active, practicing Catholic status. Applicants MUST BE ranked in the top half of their class.



The Process
Deadline date – February 18, 2008


A complete application packet includes the following documents. Incomplete packets will not be accepted.

  1. Application
  2. Parent's Financial Statement
  3. Student Essay
  4. Guidance Counselor’s Evaluation
  5. A letter of recommendation from a parish representative (parish priest, educational teacher, spiritual advisor, youth minister), civic leader or employer
  6. A letter of recommendation from a teacher
  7. Official high school transcript
  8. Copy of SAT or ACT results
  9. Social Security number
  10. A photo of the applicant (optional)

Continue With Confidence Scholarship for Adult Women

Cincinnati Catholic Women supports and encourages non-traditional women students who are beginning or continuing their undergraduate college education with the Continue With Confidence Scholarship a $1,500 grant.

Who is eligible
Any active, practicing Catholic woman aged 25 or older, who resides in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and is currently enrolled or will be enrolled by fall term, 2008 in a degree-granting undergraduate program (associate or bachelor) at any accredited college, university or vocational school may apply.

The Criteria
The Continue With Confidence Scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria (listed in order of importance): financial need, practicing Catholic status, and community or volunteer service. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide support to a person who would not be able to complete her education without this assistance.

The Process
Please download the application documents from the links below. Applications will be accepted until April 16, 2008. A committee of CCW members will select finalists for a personal interview (required), and will select a recipient from these finalists. The scholarship will be awarded in June 2008; the check will be sent to the recipient’s institution of choice at the appropriate time.

A complete application packet includes the following five documents:

  2. Personal Essay (as described on application form)
  3. Financial Statement/Personal Balance Sheet
  4. Copy of most recent income tax return
  5. Letter of recommendation from your parish priest, deacon or pastoral associate
