Cincinnati Catholic Women
With our long and rich heritage that began in 1917 in the basement of Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati Catholic Women has
grown to a membership of nearly 150. Providing a nurturing environment, our organization offers an opportunity for women to

Cincinnati Catholic Women brings a long history of service to the community that dates back to 1917 when members met in the
basement of Good Samaritan Hospital to provide aid for the war effort. Since that time, the organization has grown to a diverse
membership of nearly 150 Christian women who wish to share in spiritual growth, personal development, volunteerism, philanthropic
endeavors and friendships through personal involvement in projects and activities that benefit women and children in our community.
In sharing our faith and talents through philanthropic endeavors and personal involvement in projects and activities, we form
lasting friendships and find individual fulfillment.
Cincinnati Catholic Women offer members a way to celebrate their religion, develop and nurture friendships and give back to the
community. Whether it’s through our monthly meetings held (September-May) that often feature a local guest speaker to talk about
the spiritual side of our lives or explore the history of the church, the meetings are always lively and engaging; or through our
community involvement that includes collecting toiletries for a shelter, delivering healthy snacks to an inner city school or
providing a breakfast and special activities for a women’s shelter, or knitting blankets for young mothers, our members find
fulfillment in giving back to the community. Our card parties in the spring and fall also provide financial support to Healing
Connections. Our members also assist in fund raising efforts (the Rusty Ball, the Pennies from Heaven raffle, the Catholic
Telegraph ad and the Kroger card program) that help us generate money for the Continuing with Confidence scholarship. All these
activities bring us together as Catholic Women of all ages, from all walks of life, from all neighborhoods. To accommodate busy
schedules, there is no minimum amount of meetings you must attend, but we strongly encourage members to take advantage of the
spiritual and social opportunities our meetings and activities offer.
“Bringing Spiritual Food for Thought...”
For the remainder of 2009, Cincinnati Catholic Women will offer a variety of guest speakers both at the monthly meetings. Join us to
learn more about your faith and yourself.
“Offering women of all ages spiritual growth, philanthropic endeavors, volunteerism and friendship through personal involvement in projects
and activities with a focus on women and children in our community.”
As a spiritual organization…
our goals are the same today as they were in 1917 - to focus on spiritual growth and offer a welcoming environment where
women can gather and enjoy each other’s company and share the common bond of religion. Monthly meetings are on the third
Monday of each month September through June. This year, there will be a combination of guest speakers and tours of local
religious facilities.
As a fundraising organization…
we host special events that appeal to a broad audience and help us raise necessary funds for our philanthropic
endeavors. We will have two card parties at the CCW House October 30, 2008 and April 23, 2009. Everyone is
welcome to play cards or games, and enjoy an afternoon of games, raffles; lunch and fun are welcome to
attend. The fall fundraiser will be November 22 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center with the
Rusty Griswolds providing the entertainment. In 2009, we will have a “Non Event - Event” where $2,500 will
be raffled off.

As a social organization…
We have Monday Marathon Bridge, weekly craft circles, book club discussions, bunko nights, special outings and our annual
Christmas Tea at our home in North Avondale.
As a provider organization …
We reach out and help our community by supporting education and organizations that help women and children in need.
Currently our efforts are making a difference with Catholic Residential Services, Healing Connection, and St. Francis
Seraph School and in support of scholarships for women returning to college to earn a degree.
As a working organization with personal involvement…
You can be as involved in a variety of ways and do it when your time permits. We do ask our members to try to support
our fundraisers and attend, at least, four meetings per year. If rolling up your sleeves and getting involved fulfills
you needs, there are several activities. Like delivering Thanksgiving dinners to shut-ins, providing healthy snacks to a
local inner-city school, collecting toiletries for a shelter, or tutoring at a local school.
CCW - why not share your faith with others?
Our home is located in North Avondale where we gather for our monthly card
party, committee meetings, sewing circle, book clubs, lectures and small special events and social
activities. We invite you to join us for a meeting and see if membership fills your individual needs.
You can contact Suzy at 891-1965 should you want more information on meetings.
